Randonneuring

  • Randonneuring or Audax riding is about completing a ride over a specified route that passes through predetermined controls on a specified day within a time limit. These rules refer to these rides as brevets.
  • A rider carries a brevet card (these can be electronic) issued by the ride organiser. Brevet cards validate the rider’s control at each checkpoint and start and finish times.

  • Passing through checkpoints can be validated if using a physical card by
    • Obtaining receipts that establish the date, time and location
    • A signature from a member of the public or another rider
    • Any Kiwi Randonneur official manning a checkpoint
  • Electronic checkpoints can be validated by
    • A sanctioned phone app
    • A selfie that has GPS tagging activated of the rider at the control
    • A GPX file
  • The ride organiser validates the card or electronic record and is then homologated by the ACP representative or another Kiwi Randonneurs Committee member or officially ratified by either Kiwi Randonneurs or our international affiliates to recognise that the Brevet has been completed within all requirements.
  • Brevet types offered by Kiwi Randonneurs are either:
    • Internationally recognised and registered with, and homologated by Audax Club Parisien (ACP),
    • Les Randonneur Mondiaux (LRM),
    • Developed by and registered with, and homologated by Kiwi Randonneurs
  • Brevets are classified as:
    • Calendar Brevets
    • Permanent Brevets
  • Calendar Brevets
    • Calendar Brevets may include multiple Calendar Brevets of differing Brevet Types.
    • Calendar Brevets commence on a specific date and appear in the Kiwi Randonneurs Calendar published on its website.
