Starting from New Plymouth’s iconic Wind Wand, enjoy the challenge of circumnavigating the 2,518m Taranaki Mounga via the coastal plain to Opunake, before striking inland and the steady climb to Eltham. The route home from Eltham is via quiet back roads and includes Tarata (with free Wi-Fi! & a tunnel) and the historic Bertrand Rd swing bridge, before joining the coastal walkway for a scenic roll back to the Wind Wand.  The climbing is spread throughout the ride and there are many opportunities for café stops until Eltham. Water is available at Ratapiko, Tikorangi & Lepperton schools on the way home.
