About this ride
This ride is three 200km brevets that starts and ends in Rotorua taking in some of the best mixed surface cycling in the North Island.
Day one sees riders navigate to Waikaremoana on scenic back roads. Day two soaks up the iconic Tiniroto road and Rere Falls ending near Matawai. Finally day three takes riders down the epic Motu road and past lakes Rotoma, Rotoehu and Rotoiti on seldom traveled back roads.
This is a self supported ride through very remote back country. You need to have a sturdy bicycle and is not a ride for skinny tired racing bikes. The areas you cycle through are remote with no cell phone coverage. A personal locator beacon is recommended.
Self supported riders there are plenty of camping opportunities. For those who like a bed, there is limited accommodation at Tuai, Matawai and Motu.
Remember: It is your responsibility to ensure you are visible at night or during low light conditions. Please be familiar with Kiwi Randonneurs Night Riding rules.
